Reducing CPA by 78% by restructuring an entire acquisition strategy
A premium wellness brand was leading with their $500 program in paid ads. CPA was running $900–$1,200 — but LTV was only around $900, meaning every new customer was a loss.
Restructured the entire offer and acquisition funnel. Shifted to leading with lower-cost products ($150 program + daily shake) to build trust and habit, then upselling into the full program via email. Rebuilt ad targeting toward new customer lookalike audiences, eliminating $1,000–$1,200 in wasted retargeting spend. Built an SEO performance strategy using SEMrush and competitive content analysis.
Taking a supplement brand from $79k to $120k/month — a 52% revenue jump
Metabolic Maintenance was in their first year using Recharge for subscriptions. After six months of steady growth, new subscriber signups hit a plateau — and changing creatives wasn’t moving the needle.
Identified the real fix: making the intro discount stackable with the ongoing subscriber discount. Rebuilt the full funnel — email flows, post-purchase sequences, upsell/cross-sell systems via Rebuy, and Google + Meta campaign management. Launched their Shopify website and managed the full digital marketing operation.
Translating complex science into a $295k/month DTC engine
MethylPro, a clinically-validated methylfolate supplement brand, was hitting a subscription plateau in their first year on Recharge. The product was excellent — the funnel and offer structure weren’t doing it justice.
Applied the same stackable discount strategy that unlocked growth for Metabolic Maintenance, combined with full-funnel rebuilding: email flows, cross-sell/upsell systems via Rebuy, and dual-brand Google + Meta campaign management. Grew overall monthly revenue 21% while simultaneously managing a second brand.
Growing total revenue 41% while cutting ad spend nearly in half
True Treats had hit a plateau in SEO keyword growth and was spending heavily on ads without proportional returns. Their CRO and user experience needed significant work to convert existing traffic.
Implemented a new SEO strategy that grew keywords from 4,118 to 7,859 (91% increase). Overhauled CRO, heatmapping, and UX. Added email welcome series, rebuilt Facebook Ads strategy, and ran channel analysis across the full digital footprint. Applied social media content formulas that drove massive organic growth.
How I think about marketing
Two frameworks I apply across almost every engagement — built from years of testing what actually works.
Video Ad Strategy & the “Ugly Ad” Principle
Most brands over-produce their ads. After years of testing, I’ve found that authentic, slightly imperfect content consistently outperforms polished production — often by 10:1. Here’s my framework:
- Film first, then cut so the most compelling moment becomes the hook
- First 3 seconds: pattern interrupt (wave, sign, visual surprise)
- Hook with a false belief or struggle your viewer already has
- 2–3 min of story → stats → signs → what they gain
- Clear CTA, FAQ section, second CTA — never say goodbye
- UGC and real customer content almost always beats professional imagery
Email Flow Philosophy: Earn the Sale First
Most companies I work with don’t have post-purchase flows in place. The rule is simple: don’t try to sell anything in the first 6 weeks. Build the relationship first.
- Weeks 1–6: walk customers through what they bought — tips, insights, how-tos
- Share the brand mission and vision — make it human
- Ask them to reply directly with questions (improves list health score)
- Zero promotional content in the post-purchase sequence
- After week 6–8: customers enter promotional calendar already warm
- Natural upsells happen organically — retention improves significantly
